The end of the season is upon us, I hope that you have made great use of your club throughout the season and that you feel your membership has given you value for money. We all have different ways of enjoying our club, some through a social drink with mates, a family BBQ on the back deck, sailing each weekend during the season, an early morning swim or a blast to Ricketts point on your SUP board. There are any number of ways to enjoy our unique and privileged position in Half Moon Bay. For me, being a member is like having a beach box on one of the best beach locations Melbourne can offer, except our beach box has showers, electricity, sun drenched decks, and a bar.
So now is the time of year we ask you to renew your membership for the following year. As the winter approaches it is good to get memberships in early so that we can cover all our expenses throughout the winter months as our income is significantly reduced over this period but our bills keep flowing in.
As of next season we will no longer have paper bar vouchers. The value of your vouchers will be loaded onto your membership card, you will simply need to present your card to the bar staff and your purchase will be deducted from your card. This now means there will be little chance of you not using all your vouchers. In past years the club has gained a not inconsiderable sum of money from unspent vouchers.
I know some members regarded their unspent vouchers as a donation. As this will no longer happen, perhaps you may now consider donating to the ASF Sailing Academy fund. This fund is being used to pay for the upgrade to our pacer fleet, which was done last year. Follow the link below to donate, it’s easy and it’s all online. I would encourage all members to contribute to this fund, no amount is too small or too big.

You may notice that we have not put in an option for boat storage. This will be performed at a later date when the rejigging of the yard has been done and we know how many spots are available. As in past years when the storage is allocated, those who have paid their membership early will be placed higher up on the storage allocation list and you will also be required to attend a pre-season working bee.
So while you are renewing your memberships, cast your mind back to all the good times you have had at your club over your membership period and maybe start thinking about the great times you will have in the coming year. It is truly a special place for all of us to enjoy.
